A home for good, with everything included
Residential care at Stronvar means a room of your own in a small home of seventeen, help with the things that have become hard, and company whenever you want it.
It suits someone who can no longer manage safely on their own, who needs a hand through the day and reassurance at night, but who does not need nursing. Staff are on site 24 hours a day. Meals are cooked in our own kitchen. The faces stay the same from one week to the next, which matters more than anything else on this page.
- Help with washing, dressing and medication, at the person's own pace
- Three meals a day cooked here, with dietary needs catered for properly
- Laundry, housekeeping and activities all included
- Staff on site day and night, every day of the year
- Support for people living with dementia in a residential setting
The care, the meals, the company
One weekly fee covers the lot. There is no menu of extras to decode.
Personal care
Help with washing, dressing, getting about and taking medication, given by staff who know how each person likes things done. Nobody is woken to a schedule, and nobody is hurried.
Food and laundry
Breakfast, lunch and an evening meal cooked in our own kitchen and served at laid tables in the dining room. If someone would rather eat in their room, that is fine. Laundry is done here too.
Company and activities
Music, baking, painting, the garden, the newspaper, or simply a chat. Activities follow the interests of the people living here, and no birthday slips past unnoticed. See life at Stronvar.
We do not provide nursing care. Stronvar is a residential home. We support people living with dementia where their needs remain appropriate for a residential setting. If a resident's needs change over time we raise it with the family early and help you find the right next step, rather than waiting for a crisis.
Seventeen single rooms, each made the resident's own
Every room is fully furnished and ready to move into, and we would much rather you did not leave it that way. Bring the armchair, the photographs, the clock from the hall. Ground floor rooms suit people with reduced mobility, and several open straight onto the courtyard through their own patio doors. First floor rooms are bright, with views over the gardens.

Questions families ask about residential care
What is included in the weekly fee?
The room, all meals, personal care, laundry, activities and staff on site 24 hours a day. Permanent residential care is from £1,450 a week. The full fee sheet is in our brochure, and the Home Manager will give you a figure for your relative's own situation when you ring.
Do you provide nursing care?
No. Stronvar is a residential home, not a nursing home. We help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and everything else that makes daily life manageable, and we support people living with dementia where a residential setting remains right for them. If a resident comes to need nursing care we say so early and help the family find the right next step.
Can we try it before committing?
Yes, and many families do. A respite stay of a week or two gives your relative a real taste of life here, with the same room, meals and staff a permanent resident has. A good number of the people who live here permanently started that way.
Can my relative bring their own furniture?
Yes, and we hope they will. Every room is fully furnished, but residents are warmly encouraged to bring their own furniture, photographs and treasured possessions. People settle faster when the room already looks like theirs.
How quickly can someone move in?
It depends on room availability and on the assessment, which we arrange quickly. Once we have met your relative and agreed that Stronvar is right for them, a move can often be arranged in days rather than weeks. Ring 01206 304007 and we will tell you exactly where things stand.
